Westward Ho

Sitting on a rooftop watching shooting stars in Rapid City, South Dakota. All is well. We’ve watched the landscape change from endless miles of  corn and wind towers to grasslands to Badlands and Black Hills. An amazing amount of history in the Black Hills-between Rushmore and Crazy Horse monuments, unbelievable inspirations of art, to natural phenomenas -caves and gold mines; there’s much to be seen. We’ve not been short on moments where tossing a kid out of the car has not been wildly tempting,  particularly when my co-pilot (child who shall remain nameless) responded “you don’t have the guts to throw me out right now.”  Clarke and Rusty are well represented, and we’ve even had a “sorry folks parks closed” incident, as well as a missing child announcement cast out to the thousands at a monument gathering. Living the American Vacation Dream, for better and for worse. Mostly better! Off to Yellowstone tomorrow. Westward ho~
