Elinor, we are back in Menlo Park. These events are nothing short of unbelievable. Just praying that sometime VERY SOON they get ahead of this beast. Terrified of it crossing 75 but at this moment, they’ve finally got the resources and we all have to hope they work. For me, I can tell you that I will come back with a new appreciation for this amazing area and community. Stay safe. 🙂
Great time line, we drove by Greenhorn Gulch as we left SV last night around 6pm. Really hard to believe the smoke and fires, it looked like it had almost reached 75. We just got back to LF. OUr section is ow under mandatory evac. now. Glad we left when we did.
glad u r safe–hoping the same for eagle creek! (now we know what those lights were doing on top of baldy thurs night–blowing snow!)ross & boys in slc last night too-flew back this a.m.
Thank God you are safe. The news from our beloved town is overwhelming. We are in DC (Elena, rabbit and me), and Jeff, Alexander and BJ are flying from out east today –they’ve been in a hotel in SLC since Friday. Let’s put together our collective prayers that they can FIGHT this thing and get it out for good. Hopefully the old burn will mean no fuel. Hugs to you, your family, and everyone in the WR valley!
Not sure what the current status of the Sun Valley fire is – but if any of your friends (or you!) who are staying in SLC need housing our condo in Deer Valley is available. Good luck to all and I hope everyone stays safe.
Forgot to say – gratis of course. 3 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths so could take a family easily. I know how stressful evacuations can be, especially with kids! Been there done that for hurricanes.
